Poverty Trends in South Africa: An examination of absolute poverty between 2006 and 2023

Statistics South Africa will release the latest Poverty Trends in South Africa report, which highlights shifts in poverty levels and provides insights by race, gender, household composition, and province, among other indicators—the Poverty Trends Report analysed money-metric poverty levels between 2006 and 2023.

The release will also include the joint Stats SA–World Bank technical report on the rebasing of the national poverty lines, as well as the publishing of the IES 2022/23 data files and metadata.
