Community Engagement Ahead of the Statistics South Africa Budget Vote

On Wednesday, 2 July 2025, the Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Ms Nonceba Mhlauli, will be joined by the Statistician-General of South Africa, Mr Risenga Maluleke, senior executives of Statistics South Africa, local councillors, and other community leaders for a series of community outreach engagements in the lead-up to the tabling of Stats SA’s Budget Vote.

The purpose of the outreach is to raise awareness about the work of Stats SA, highlight the importance of public participation in its surveys, and reaffirm the critical role official statistics play in shaping evidence-based policymaking. These engagements form part of ongoing efforts to bring statistics closer to the people, fostering trust, enhancing transparency, and encouraging active community involvement.
