Launch of the Income and Expenditure Survey (IES) 2022/23 Statistical Release and the updated Consumer Price Index (CPI) basket and weights

The Statistician-General of South Africa, Mr Risenga Maluleke, invites members of the media to the official release of the Income and Expenditure Survey (IES) 2022/23 and the updated Consumer Price Index (CPI) basket and weights.

The IES is a household-based survey designed to gather comprehensive data on household, consumption expenditure, income sources, and living conditions across the country.

The IES plays a crucial role in updating the CPI basket of goods and services and weighting structure. The new CPI basket and weights will be unveiled.
