Nkonkobe

Nkonkobe Local Municipality was established in 2000 and is dominated by the settlements of Amagqunukwebe, Amajingqi and Fort Beaufort. 60% of the population live in rural areas, and the majority of the urban population lives in the towns of Fort Beaufort and Alice.

Engcobo

Engcobo Local Municipality is located in the Chris Hani District of the Eastern Cape, the second largest province in terms of land coverage on the south-eastern seaboard of South Africa. Engcobo consists of 20 wards, extends over 2 258,78km² with a population of 155 513, and constitutes 19,6% of the total population of the district, as per the Census 2011 information.

The majority of the population is female (56%).  There are about 66 people per square kilometre.  The population is predominantly black African, followed by an insignificant number of Asians/Indians, coloureds and whites.

Port St John’s forms part of the O.R. Tambo District Municipality. It is bounded on the eastern side by the Indian Ocean. To the north-east, it is bounded by the Mzintlava River and Ingquza Hill Local Municipality. It is constituted by one magisterial area, viz. Port St John’s. The municipality is largely rural/traditional in character and the main economic activity is subsistence farming.

Mhlontlo

The municipality comprises the magisterial areas of Qumbu and Tsolo. It is bounded to the south by the King Sabata Dalinyebo Local Municipality; to the east by the Nyandeni Local Municipality; and to the north by the Mzimvubu Local Municipality. The surface area of the municipality is 2 826km2,with a population of 188 226 persons in 2011, which translates to a population density of 66,6 persons per square kilometre.

Tokologo

Tokologo is located within Lejweleputswa District Municipality. The area covers 9 326 square kilometres and consists of three former Transitional Local Councils namely Boshof, Dealesville and Hertzogville, as well as a portion of a former Transitional Rural Council (Moddervaal), which consists of approximately 1 480 farms. Tokologo Local Municipality is in the western Free State. Tokologo is a Setswana word meaning "freedom”.
