Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), in collaboration with the South African Medical Research Council, will be conducting the South Africa Demographic and Health Survey (SADHS) in 2016 on behalf of the National Department of Health.<\/p>\n
The survey aims to provide a better understanding of the health status of the population in South Africa. Key topics include child health, reproductive health, adult health and nutrition. The information collected will assist the Department of Health to plan and prioritise health programmes and service delivery. It also provides an opportunity for household members to understand their individual health status.<\/p>\n
A critical part of the survey is to update the Dwelling Frame (DF). This process involves the pre-loading of Dwelling Frame data on digital devices and updating information on both residential and non-residential structures in the sampled areas. This DF update will take place from 1\u00a0February to 30\u00a0March\u00a02016 in 750 sampled areas across the country.<\/p>\n

This information will then be used to select the Dwelling Unit sample. These are the homes that will be visited during the main data collection which will take place from May to September 2016.<\/p>\n
Stats SA appeals to all residents located in the sampled areas to assist Fieldworkers when they come to visit your household to update the DF by providing access to the structures on your premises and providing required information. This will assist greatly in obtaining accurate information to update our sampling frame.<\/p>\n
All the information you provide is kept confidential and will not be passed onto any individual or organisation for any purpose. Every Stats SA official is sworn to uphold the confidentiality of all collected data.<\/p>\n
