Excitement was in the air in South Africa when Durban was announced as\u00a0the host city of the 2022 Commonwealth Games on 2 September 2015. This\u00a0is going to be the first time that these games will be held in the African\u00a0continent since the inception of the Commonwealth games in 1930. This is\u00a0an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from Commonwealth of\u00a0Nations (53 independent states from the five regions). The games included\u00a0in this event are netball, hockey, aquatics and athletics, just to name a few.\u00a0The games are scheduled to be held from the 18 to 29 of July 2022, marking\u00a0the birthday of South African icon Nelson Mandela. The games will\u00a0contribute towards infrastructure development which will in turn contribute to\u00a0the economic growth of the country.<\/p>\n
