{"id":13231,"date":"2020-04-19T18:08:20","date_gmt":"2020-04-19T16:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.statssa.gov.za\/?p=13231"},"modified":"2020-04-30T18:46:55","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T16:46:55","slug":"stats-sa-launches-online-survey-to-gauge-the-impact-of-the-covid-19-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.statssa.gov.za\/?p=13231","title":{"rendered":"Stats SA launches online survey to gauge the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) is appealing to the public to participate in an online survey it launched recently to gauge the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccurate, real-time statistics are of utmost importance in times of crisis,\u201d said Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke. \u201cThese surveys will be used to see how COVID-19 has impacted the population, and will be used by government to inform their strategy going forward. For us to win this fight, the decisions we make must be evidenced-based.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 and the lock-down will have a multi-dimensional impact. For this reason, the survey will be conducted in three waves.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"94\"><strong>Wave<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"472\"><strong>Focus<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"94\">Wave 1<\/td>\n<td width=\"472\">Health behaviour and perceptions<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"94\">Wave 2<\/td>\n<td width=\"472\">Employment and income related issues, including hunger<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"94\">Wave 3<\/td>\n<td width=\"472\">Education, including home schooling, as well as how people generally spent their time<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is the first survey that the organisation will conduct using the convenience sampling approach.<\/p>\n<p>Stats SA encourages all those living in South Africa to complete the survey by clicking on the link below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uss.statssa.gov.za\/WebInterview\/SPZZQA2C\/Start\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">START SURVEY<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All responses are anonymous and no personal information will be recorded.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation also conducted an online survey on the impact of COVID-19 on businesses, which was sent to a sample of businesses that Stats SA regularly interacts with.
