Several households in the sample will be visited whereby the latest data collection instruments and navigation will be showcased. The media walk-about coincides with the bi- annual asset disposal programme of the department. Therefore the delegation will proceed to donate computers to a previously disadvantaged school, Maphefo Primary, in the nearby Podile Village in GaMolepo. The donation will benefit the school and position it to be in line with the call to increasing access and the use technology at education institutions. The computers will be installed with statistical programmes to increase statistics literacy amongst learners, as the organisation gears itself towards counting the population in the upcoming census in 2021. The donation is in line with the Asset Management Policy of the organisation.

Details of the events are as follows:

When: Monday, 14 October 2019

Time: 09H00 (Media gather at Limpopo Stats SA Office, 29 Bodenstein Street, Polokwane and proceed to Mankweng)

Venue: Makweng Village (Delegation conducts walk-about and navigate to sampled households)

Time: 11H00 (Media and delegation drive to Maphefo Primary School for asset disposal)

Venue: Maphefo Primary School, Podile Village in GaMolepo

RSVP: Gift Madiega, Tel: 012 406 3404, Cell: 073 2481 083,Email: GiftMad@statssa.gov.za

For media enquiries contact: Lesedi Dibakwane, Tel: 012 310 8578,Cell: 082 805 7088, Email: LesediD@statssa.gov.za

Media advisory 11 October 2019 Stats SA to visit Mankweng and update media on the Census 2021 Mini Test The Statistician General of South Africa, Risenga Maluleke, will lead a delegation of fieldworkers and stakeholders on a walkabout as Census 2021 Mini Test data collection continues in Mankweng in Limpopo.
