Siyabuswa is a name that is derived from Northern Sotho and, depending on the context, means 'we are being worshipped' or 'we are subordinate'. Between 1981 and 1986, the town was the capital of the KwaNdebele bantustan during apartheid, but the capital was moved to KwaMhlanga in 1986. In 1994, the homeland policy was disolved, resulting in KwaNdebele's absorption into South Africa. (GPS coordinates: 25.1208 S, 29.0504 E).
