Production: results for February 2022

 

Manufacturing production increased by 0,2% in February 2022 compared with February 2021. The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        food and beverages (4,2% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point); and

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (3,9% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).

 

The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-7,1% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point); and

·        petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-2,6% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 1,1% in February 2022 compared with January 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of 2,0% in January 2022 and 1,2% in December 2021.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 3,8% in the three months ended February 2022 compared with the previous three months. Nine of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.

 

The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (4,9% and contributing 1,0 percentage point);

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (5,2% and contributing 1,0 percentage point);

·        food and beverages (3,0% and contributing 0,7 of a percentage point); and

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (7,0% and contributing 0,6 of a percentage point).

 

Sales: results for February 2022

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales decreased by 0,1% in February 2022 compared with January 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of 4,0% in January 2022 and 2,1% in December 2021.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 8,3% in the three months ended February 2022 compared with the previous three months. The largest contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (26,0% and contributing 2,9 percentage points);

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (9,3% and contributing 2,3 percentage points); and

·        petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (8,5% and contributing 1,6 percentage points).
