Key findings: P7162 - Land transport survey, June 2025

Freight transportation

The volume of goods transported (payload)  decreased by 2,4% in June 2025 compared with June 2024. The corresponding income decreased by 0,2% over the same period.

 

Income from freight transportation decreased by 0,7% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with the second quarter of 2024. The main negative contributors to this decrease were:

·      agriculture and forestry primary products (-21,1% and contributing -1,3 percentage points);

·      basic metals and fabricated metal products (-25,2% and contributing -0,4 of a percentage point); and

·      containers (-5,7% and contributing -0,3 of a percentage point).


Seasonally adjusted payload decreased by 1,5% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with the first quarter of 2025. Road freight decreased by 1,5% (contributing -1,2 percentage points) and rail freight decreased by 1,2% (contributing -0,2 of a percentage point).

Passenger transportation

The number of passenger journeys increased by 11,9% in June 2025 compared with June 2024. The corresponding income decreased by 1,3% over the same period.

 

Seasonally adjusted passenger journeys increased by 0,4% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with the first quarter of 2025. Rail passenger journeys increased by 8,8% (contributing 2,3 percentage points), while road passenger journeys decreased by 2,6% (contributing -1,9 percentage points).
