Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry increased by 2,2% in March 2026 compared with March 2025. Positive annual growth rates were recorded for ‘other’ income (10,0%) and food sales (3,7%).

In March 2026, the positive contributors to the 2,2% year-on-year increase were takeaway and fast-food outlets (5,8% and contributing 2,3 percentage points) and catering services (2,5% and contributing 0,3 of a percentage point).

Total income increased by 4,0% in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025. The main contributors to this increase were takeaway and fast-food outlets (6,4% and contributing 2,5 percentage points) and restaurants and coffee shops (2,9% and contributing 1,4 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted income for the food and beverages industry increased by 1,1% in March 2026 compared with February 2026. This followed month-on-month changes of -1,5% in February 2026 and 2,2% in January 2026.
