Year-on-year percentage change in food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices by type of income

 

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry decreased by 4,0% in December 2024 compared with December 2023. The highest negative annual growth rates were recorded for ‘other’ income (26,6%) and bar sales (-12,1%).

In December 2024, the only negative contributor to the 4,0% year-on-year decrease was restaurants and coffee shops (-11,5% and contributing -6,1 percentage points). The largest positive contributor was takeaway and fast-food outlets (3,5% and contributing 1,3 percentage points).

 

Food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices for the latest three months by type of enterprise

 

Total income decreased by 1,0% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared with the fourth quarter of 2023. The only negative contributor to this decrease was restaurants and coffee shops (-7,8% and contributing -4,0 percentage points). The main positive contributor was takeaway and fast-food outlets (5,4% and contributing 2,1 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted income for the food and beverages industry decreased by 1,0% in December 2024 compared with November 2024. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,6% in November 2024 and -0,2% in October 2024.
