Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, June 2023

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 23,8% in June 2023 compared with June 2022.

Income from accommodation increased by 36,3% year-on-year in June 2023, the result of a 4,8% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 30,0% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In June 2023, the largest contributors to the 36,3% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation were:

  • ‘other’ accommodation (45,3% and contributing 19,2 percentage points); and
  • hotels (32,9% and contributing 16,4 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 32,1% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the second quarter of 2022. The main contributors to this increase were:

  •   ‘other’ accommodation (37,5% and contributing 15,9 percentage points); and
  • hotels (31,6% and contributing 15,6 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted income from accommodation increased by 0,8% month-on-month in June 2023 following an increase of 13,0% month-on-month in May 2023.
