Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, June 2025

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), motor trade sales increased by 3,1% year-on-year in June 2025. The positive contributors to this increase were:

  • sales of accessories (10,3% and contributing 2,0 percentage points);
  • new vehicle sales (6,8% and contributing 1,6 percentage points); and
  • used vehicle sales (4,8% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).

 

The largest negative contributors were:

  • workshop income (-11,1% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point); and
  • fuel sales (-1,9% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales were flat in June 2025 compared with May 2025. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,2% in May 2025 and 0,0% in April 2025.

 

Motor trade sales increased by 2,5% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with the second quarter of 2024. The positive contributors to this increase were:

  • new vehicle sales (7,3% and contributing 1,7 percentage points);
  • sales of accessories (5,0% and contributing 1,0 percentage point); and
  • used vehicle sales (4,4% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point).

 

The largest negative contributor was workshop income (-12,7% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 0,6% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with the first quarter of 2025. The main positive contributor to this increase was sales of accessories (1,8% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point).
