Sales at constant 2019 prices: results for May 2026

 

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), wholesale trade sales decreased by 6,9% in May 2026 compared with May 2025.

                                                                                                                

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 7,4% in May 2026 compared with April 2026. This followed month-on-month changes of -2,3% in April 2026 and 6,4% in March 2026.

 

In the three months ended May 2026, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 2,0% compared with the previous three months.

 

Sales at current prices: results for May 2026

 

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 4,0% in May 2026 compared with May 2025. The main positive contributor was dealers in solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (24,2% and contributing 5,6 percentage points).

 

The main negative contributor was dealers in agricultural raw materials and livestock (-14,3% and contributing -1,0 percentage point).

 

Wholesale trade sales increased by 8,2% in the three months ended May 2026 compared with the three months ended May 2025. The main positive contributors were dealers in:

·       solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (24,0% and contributing 5,6 percentage points); and

·       ‘other’ intermediate products, waste and scrap (22,5% and contributing 1,1 percentage points).
