Key findings: P5041.3 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, 2025

The value of building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) decreased by 2,7% (-R2 702,7 million) in 2025 compared with 2024. Decreases were reported for non-residential buildings (-11,6% or -R2 874,3 million) and residential buildings (-3,1% or ‑R1 483,6 million). An increase was reported for additions and alterations (5,8% or R1 655,2 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 2,6% (R1 351,6 million) in 2025 compared with 2024. Residential buildings rose by 9,0% (R2 649,9 million). Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-9,8% or ‑R1 021,6 million) and non-residential buildings (-2,2% or -R276,7 million).
