Key findings: P5041.3 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, 2024

The value of building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) decreased by 0,3% (-R327,6 million) in 2024 compared with 2023. Decreases were reported for residential buildings (-4,0% or -R2 037,1 million) and additions and alterations (-3,8% or -R1 134,3 million). An increase was reported for non-residential buildings (13,1% or R2 843,9 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 10,4% (-R6 067,5 million) in 2024 compared with 2023. Decreases were reported for residential buildings (-17,0% or -R6 008,9 million) and non-residential buildings (-7,0% or -R941,9 million). Additions and alterations increased by 9,2% (R883,3 million).
