Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, July 2019

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 4,3% (-R2 844,5 million) during January to July 2019 compared with January to July 2018. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (‑12,7% or -R1 907,2 million) and residential buildings (-4,0% or -R1 383,4 million). An increase was recorded for additions and alterations (2,6% or R446,1 million).

 The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 36,7% (R14 494,0 million) during January to July 2019 compared with January to July 2018. Increases were recorded for non-residential buildings (51,1% or R4 602,8 million), residential buildings (41,4% or R9 665,2 million) and additions and alterations (3,2% or R226,0 million).
