Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, April 2019

 

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 0,7% (R256,5 million) during January to April 2019 compared with January to April 2018. Residential buildings increased by 2,5% (R424,8 million). Decreases were recorded for additions and alterations (‑1,1% or -R100,6 million) and non-residential buildings (-0,8% or -R67,7 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 37,2% (R7 533,4 million) during January to April 2019 compared with January to April 2018. Increases were recorded for non-residential buildings (60,1% or R2 752,0 million), residential buildings (36,8% or R4 373,2 million) and additions and alterations (10,7% or R408,2 million).
