Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, July 2026

The value of building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 6,3% (R3 456,1 million) during January to July 2026 compared with January to July 2025. Increases were reported for residential buildings (R2 175,6 million) and non-residential buildings (R1 711,9 million). A decrease was reported for additions and alterations (-R431,3 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 10,7% (-R3 097,7 million) during January to July 2026 compared with January to July 2025. Decreases were reported for non-residential buildings (‑R2 021,7 million), residential buildings (-R734,4 million) and additions and alterations (-R341,5 million).
