Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, June 2026

The value of building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 6,1% (R2 798,4 million) during the first half of 2026 compared with the first half of 2025. Increases were reported for residential buildings (R1 667,3 million) and non-residential buildings (R1 590,6 million). A decrease was reported for additions and alterations (-R459,4 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 3,0% (-R699,5 million) during the first half of 2026 compared with the first half of 2025. A decrease was reported for non-residential buildings (‑R1 258,6 million). Increases were reported for residential buildings (R384,8 million) and additions and alterations.
