Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, April 2026
The value of building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 5,7% (R1 679,7 million) during January to April 2026 compared with January to April 2025. Increases were reported for residential buildings (R1 923,9 million) and non-residential buildings (R3,1 million). A decrease was reported for additions and alterations (-R247,3 million).
The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 6,8% (R983,5 million) during January to April 2026 compared with January to April 2025. Increases were reported for additions and alterations (R627,9 million) and residential buildings (R406,3 million). A decrease was reported for non-residential buildings (-R50,7 million).
