Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, December 2025
The value of building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 2,6% (-R2 693,7 million) in 2025 compared with 2024. Decreases were reported for non-residential buildings (-R2 867,3 million) and residential buildings (-R1 483,6 million). An increase was reported for additions and alterations (R1 657,1 million).
The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 2,6% (R1 351,6 million) in 2025 compared with 2024. An increase was reported for residential buildings (R2 649,9 million). Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-R1 021,6 million) and non-residential buildings (-R276,7 million).
