Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, January 2021

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 5,6% (-R322,5 million) in January 2021 compared with January 2020. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings 
(-70,9% or -R1 008,9 million) and additions and alterations (-10,2% or -R171,3 million). An increase was recorded for residential buildings (32,7% or R857,7 million).
The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 43,3% (-R2 083,1 million) in January 2021 compared with January 2020. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-59,9% or -R884,7 million), additions and alterations (-52,6% or -R622,6 million) and residential buildings (-26,8% or -R575,8 million).
