Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, March 2014

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 0,6% (-R95,6 million) year-on-year during the first quarter of 2014. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-16,7% or -R918,2 million) and additions and alterations (-0,3% or -R12,8 million) while an increase was recorded for residential buildings (11,5% or R835,4 million).

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 8,1% (-R882,3 million) year-on-year during the first quarter of 2014. Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-24,9% or -R723,7 million), residential buildings (-2,1% or -R107,0 million) and non-residential buildings (-1,8% or -R51,5 million).
