Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, February 2014

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 4,1% (-R467,1 million) year-on-year during January to February 2014. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-26,0% or -R928,1 million), and additions and alterations (-2,1% or -R62,7 million). An increase was recorded for residential buildings (11,0% or R523,7 million).

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 10,2% (-R716,4 million) year-on-year during January to February 2014. Decreases were reported for additions and alterations (-20,4% or -R378,5 million), residential buildings (-9,0% or -R303,4 million) and non-residential buildings (-1,9% or -R34,5 million).
