Building Statistics

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 11,1% (R6 757,3 million) during January to November 2013. All three major building categories showed increases, with the largest percentage increase reported for non-residential buildings (27,7% or R3 956,0 million), followed by residential buildings (9,4% or R2 584,6 million) and additions and alterations (1,1% or R216,6 million) (see Table C).


The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 11,9% (R4 664,7 million) during January to November 2013. Increases were reported for non-residential buildings (16,6% or R1 782,0 million), additions and alterations (14,6% or R1 319,0 million) and residential buildings (8,0% or R1 563,7 million).
