Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, October 2013

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 14,3% (R7 744,8 million) during January to October 2013. All three major building categories showed increases, with the largest percentage increase reported for non-residential buildings (31,4% or R3 985,0 million), followed by residential buildings (14,3% or R3 483,5 million) and additions and alterations (1,6% or R276,3 million).


The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 12,9% (R4 474,4 million) during January to October 2013. Increases were reported for additions and alterations (16,3% or R1 346,5 million), non-residential buildings (13,3% or R1 243,6 million) and residential buildings (11,0% or R1 884,3 million).
