Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, September 2013

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 16,2% (R7 620,5 million) during January to September 2013. All three major building categories showed increases, with the largest percentage increase reported for non-residential buildings (34,5% or R3 783,5 million), followed by residential buildings (15,8% or R3 350,5 million) and additions and alterations (3,3% or R486,5 million) (see Table C).

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 11,5% (R3 638,0 million) during January to September 2013. Increases were reported for additions and alterations (16,1% or R1 205,8 million), residential buildings (10,2% or R1 571,1 million) and non-residential buildings (9,8% or R861,1 million).
