Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, August 2013

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 18,1% (R7 475,0 million) during January to August 2013. All three major building categories showed increases, with the largest percentage increase reported for non-residential buildings (39,7% or R3 775,0 million), followed by residential buildings (17,3% or R3 231,4 million) and additions and alterations (3,6% or R468,6 million).

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 13,3% (R3 662,4 million) during January to August 2013. Increases were reported for non-residential buildings (19,5% or
R1 405,8 million), additions and alterations (15,8% or R1 057,8 million) and residential buildings (8,8% or R1 198,9 million) during the above-mentioned period.
