Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, May 2013

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 21,9% (R5 213,0 million) during January to May 2013. Increases were reported for non-residential buildings (52,2% or R2 737,6 million), followed by residential buildings (18,2% or R1 995,4 million) and additions and alterations (6,3% or R480,0 million).


The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 10,0% (R1 741,6 million) during January to May 2013. Increases were reported for additions and alterations (21,0% or R883,1 million) and residential buildings (11,2% or R901,8 million). A decrease was reported for non-residential buildings (-0,8% or -R43,3 million) during the above-mentioned period.
