Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, April 2013


The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 25,9% (R4 656,1 million) during January to April 2013. All three major building categories showed increases, with the largest increase reported for non-residential buildings (69,4% or R2 574,4 million), followed by residential buildings (21,2% or R1 740,8 million) and additions and alterations (5,7% or R341,0 million).


The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) increased year-on-year by 11,3% (R1 556,8 million) during January to April 2013. Increases were reported for additions and alterations (20,0% or R690,7 million), residential buildings (12,6% or R808,1 million) and non-residential buildings (1,5% or R58,0 million) during the above-mentioned period.
