Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, August 2012

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) increased by 7,2% (R3 046,2 million) during January to August 2012 compared with January to August 2011. The biggest percentage increase was reported for non-residential buildings (9,1% or R869,3 million), followed by additions and alterations (7,4% or R1 000,4 million) and residential buildings (6,1% or R1 176,6 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) increased by 5,3% (R1 459,7 million) during January to August 2012 compared with January to August 2011. Increases were reported for residential buildings (11,1% or R1 450,4 million) and non-residential buildings (9,7% or R646,0 million), while a decrease was reported for additions and alterations ( 8,3% or  R636,8 million) during the above-mentioned period.
