Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, December 2011

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) was 4,8% higher (R3 035,7 million) during 2011 compared with 2010. Increases were reported for non-residential buildings (20,2% or R2 693,6 million) and residential buildings (8,4% or R2 241,5 million), as opposed to a decrease reported for additions and alterations (-8,1% or  R1 899,4 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 2,2% (-R970,4 million) during 2011 compared with 2010. A large decrease was reported for non-residential buildings (-13,0% or -R1 507,5 million), while increases were reported for additions and alterations (1,9% or R214,3 million) and residential buildings (1,5% or R322,9 million).
