The value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) increased by 2,2% (R1 028,1 million) during January to September 2011 compared with January to September 2010. Increases were reported for
non-residential buildings (13,8% or R1 344,2 million) and residential buildings (7,3% or R1 473,3 million), as opposed to a decrease reported for additions and alterations (-10,3% or -R1 789,4 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) decreased by 3,4% (-R1 114,4 million) during January to September 2011 compared with January to September 2010. A large decrease was reported for non-residential buildings (-13,7% or -R1 160,6 million), while additions and alterations recorded a small increase (0,6% or R48,0 million) during the
above-mentioned period.
