Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, April 2011

The value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) increased by 5,8% (R1 066,4 million) during January to April 2011 compared with January to April 2010. The biggest increase was reported for residential buildings (10,1% or R776,3 million), followed by non-residential buildings (8,1% or R331,5 million). A slight decrease was reported for additions and alterations (-0,6% or -R41,4 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) increased by 4,8% (R600,8 million) during January to April 2011 compared with January to April 2010. The biggest increase was reported for additions and alterations (18,1% or R602,7 million), followed by residential buildings (4,2% or R249,4 million). Non-residential buildings reported a decrease of 7,4% (-R251,3 million) during the above-mentioned period.
