Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, October 2007

According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during the first ten months of 2007 increased by 9,3% (R5 854,1 million) compared with the first ten months of 2006. Increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for additions and alterations (13,4%), residential buildings (8,3%) and non-residential buildings (6,7%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 22,4% (R6 914,8 million). Large increases in the value of buildings completed were reported for non-residential buildings (61,7%), additions and alterations (17,7%) and residential buildings (14,8%).
