Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, September 2007

According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during the first nine months of 2007 increased by 11,3% (R6 293,3 million) compared with the first nine months of 2006. Increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for additions and alterations (13,1%), non-residential buildings (12,6%) and residential buildings (10,1%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 23,3% (R6 318,6 million). Large increases in the value of buildings completed were reported for non-residential buildings (68,7%), additions and alterations (18,3%) and residential buildings (15,0%).
