According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during January 2007 increased by 12,9% (+R546,8 million) compared with January 2006. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+35,0%), additions and alterations (+25,5%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 41,6% (+R800,9 million). Large increases in the value of buildings completed were reported for additions and alterations (+63,5%), non-residential buildings (+51,7%) and residential buildings (+31,8%).
