According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during January to December 2006 increased by 11,2% (+R7 240,3 million) compared with January to December 2005. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+31,6%), additions and alterations (+9,0%) and residential buildings (+6,4%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 22,5% (+R6 767,0 million). Large increases in the value of buildings completed were reported for additions and alterations (+36,0%), non-residential buildings (+30,1%) and residential buildings (+17,8%).
