According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during January to February 2006 increased by 29,8% (+R2 158,9 million) compared with January to February 2005. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+48,6%), residential buildings (+30,3%) and additions and alterations (+18,0%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 38,1% (+R1 204,6 million). Large increases in the value of buildings reported as completed were reported for non-residential buildings (+50,6%), additions and alterations (+37,7%) and residential buildings (+35,5%).
