According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during January 2006 increased by 32,3% (+R1 019,0 million) compared with January 2005. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+54,5%), residential buildings (+37,1%) and additions and alterations (+10,0%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 29,1% (+R419,5 million). Large increases in the value of buildings reported as completed were reported for residential buildings (+37,3%), additions and alterations (+22,0%) and non-residential buildings (+11,5%).
