According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during the first nine months of 2005 increased by 55,1% from R36 133,6 million to R56 041,4 million compared with the first ten months of 2004. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+77,9%), additions and alterations (+63,2%) and residential buildings (+4 6,3%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 42,7% from R17 323,2 million to R24 728,6 million. Large increases in the value of buildings reported as completed were reported for residential buildings (+55,5%), additions and alterations (+28,7%) and non-residential buildings (+12,5%).
