Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, September 2005

According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during the first nine months of 2005 increased by 53, from R31 931,9 million to R48 945,5million compared with the first nine months of 2004. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+80,5%), additions and alterations (+59,9%) and residential buildings (+44,1%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 39,4% from R15 271,5 million to R21 293,9 million. Large increases in the value of buildings reported as completed were reported for residential buildings (+51,7%), additions and alterations (+27,2%) and non-residential buildings (+9,0%).
