Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, July 2005

According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during the first seven months of 2005 increased by 50,4% from R23 394,2 million to R35 180,7 million compared with the first seven months of 2004. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+80,5%), additions and alterations (+63,2%) and residential buildings (+38,2%).

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 35,5% from R10 870,9 million to R14 726,7 million. Large increases in the value of buildings reported as completed were reported for residential buildings (+40,9%), additions and alterations (+28,6%) and non-residential buildings (+21,1%).
