Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, June 2005

According to this monthly survey, the preliminary estimates indicate that the value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during the first six months of 2005 increased by 51,1% from R19 259,0 million to R29 097,8 million compared with the first six months of 2004. Large increases in the value of recorded building plans passed were reported for non-residential buildings (+74,7%), additions and alterations (+65,2%) and residential buildings (+39,8%).

 

The preliminary estimates indicate that the value of buildings reported as completed to larger municipalities (at current prices) during the above-mentioned period increased by 41,6% from R8 685,4 million to R12 298,0 million. Large increases in the value of buildings reported as completed were reported for residential buildings (+45,9%), additions and alterations (+34,6%) and non-residential buildings (+32,5%).
