Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, May 2026

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 76,6% in May 2026 compared with 77,8% in May 2025, a decrease of 1,2 percentage points.

 

Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions showed decreases in utilisation of production capacity in May 2026 compared with May 2025. The largest decreases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-2,8 percentage points);
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (-1,6 percentage points);
  • food and beverages (-1,4 percentage points); and
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (-1,1 percentage points).

 

The highest rates of utilisation of production capacity were recorded in the following divisions in May 2026:

  • food and beverages (81,3%);
  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (80,1%);
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (79,4%);
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (78,8%); and
  • electrical machinery (78,6%).
