Key findings: P3043 - Manufacturing: Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises, February 2025

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 76,0% in February 2025 compared with 78,1% in February 2024, a decrease of 2,1 percentage points.

 

Seven of the ten manufacturing divisions showed decreases in utilisation of production capacity in February 2025 compared with February 2024. The largest decreases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-4,5 percentage points);
  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-3,2 percentage points);
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-2,3 percentage points);
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-1,3 percentage points); and
  • electrical machinery (-1,3 percentage points).

 

The highest rates of utilisation of production capacity were recorded in the following divisions in February 2025:

  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (81,7%);
  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (81,6%);
  • furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing (80,1%); and
  • food and beverages (79,0%).
