Production: results for August 2026

 

Manufacturing production decreased by 4,3% in August 2026 compared with August 2025. The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions.

·         petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-5,0% and contributing -1,1 percentage points);

·         motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-8,8% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point);

·         wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-7,0% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point);

·         food and beverages (-3,0% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point); and

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-3,0% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 3,1% in August 2026 compared with July 2026. This followed month-on-month changes of 2,2% in July 2026 and 0,9% in June 2026.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 1,1% in the three months ended August 2026 compared with the previous three months. Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period. The following divisions reported the largest positive contributions:

·         food and beverages (2,5% and contributing 0,6 of a percentage point); and

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (1,5% and contributing 0,3 of a percentage point).

 

 

Sales: results for August 2026

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 1,1% in August 2026 compared with July 2026. This followed month-on-month changes of 5,1% in July 2026 and -1,7% in June 2026.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 1,4% in the three months ended August 2026 compared with the previous three months. The largest positive contributions were made by the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (8,2% and contributing 1,2 percentage points) and the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (2,4% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point).
